Mystic Saddles- Redfish Lake, Idaho

This was a real special day for me. I might come from Iowa, but I haven't spent a lot of time with big animals. Horses have always fascinated me though. I can remember loving the movie Spirit as a kiddo, and thinking about how brilliant these animals are. I worked in Stanley, Idaho this summer ('23), and the ranch I worked at let us go on a horseback ride through a company called Mystic Saddles at Redfish Lake. Here I met Anne Holton who is a talented photographer, focusing a lot of her time on equine photography. I love her drive and focus on this one specific area of photography. Her sister and sister's husband own this business, and they're top notch. 10/10 recommend if you're ever in the Sawtooths.

That day we rode for the ranch, Anne suggested we set up a photoshoot sometime in the summer. On June 27th, (my 30th birthday) she asked if I'd want to take some photos of her team and the horses. That ended up being such a fun way to spend the evening. I had so much fun getting to do something so new, and getting to see how Anne works too. We both took turns suggesting stuff, her leading most of the way. It was a really special experience for me. I got to cross "horseback riding" off my 30th birthday list too. Being a huge fan of the West, and the history of it all- this just felt so on brand. :)

Still in love with these images. Hope you enjoy them too. I also included the photos Anne took of me, and two from when I went horseback riding for work. Big fan of getting to spend time with horses and good people.

Anne, thank you again! You're incredible. Here's her website: https://anneholton.mypixieset.com/
